Business hours: Monday - Sunday 11:30AM – 2:00PM, 6:15PM – 10:00PM

It has come to the end of 2020. Decided to update my blog for the last entry of 2020. I do not know if I want to continue to update this blog in 2021 since blogging is no longer popular in this era. I do have the plan to vlog, however, no further action yet. Due to COVID-19, we restricted to dine out so I have no materials to update my blog.

Last Tuesday, I went to Rock Road Seafood Restaurant for the first time with my family. Yes, it's my first time been here. Rock Road Seafood Restaurant is long established and famous for seafood in Kuching. I didn't have a chance to come here because it's expensive for me. And this time, it was my relative's treat. I can only show you the dishes we had. If not mistaken, the bill was about RM1,450 for 12 pax, inclusive of tax and service charge.

Prawns in Special Sauce (Hainanese Style) & Buns

Sea Cucumber Soup

Stir-fried Midin

Steamed Oysters with Garlic Ginger with Vermicelli

Braised beancurd with mushroom and vege

Cantonese Style Steamed Fish

Fried Crabs with Salted Egg Pumpkin Paste

Overall the food is very nice and the seafood tasted fresh. The waiting time was considerably short despite a birthday event was hosted there. And I have to say that their customer service is very impressive, from parking to table service, it's impeccable. It's worth to pay a visit if you are into seafood.

Kolo Mee @Lao Bai Xing Kopitiam 老百姓, Jalan Kempas, Kuching

Address: Lot 3172, Everbright Jaya, No 98, Jalan Kempas, Taman Everbright Jaya, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak
Business hours: Wednesday - Monday 7:00am - 1:30pm; Tuesday Off

I had not been to Lao Bai Xing Kopitiam for sometime until recently I found out there was quite crowded in the morning. And a friend on FB shared that the kolo mee was delicious.  My mum was keen to try out too. So one fine day in the early of March before the breakout of COVID-19, I finally brought her there.

Their menu is pretty simple, Char Siu, Seafood and Wanton. Either you want it dry or soup. Original or red (char siu oil).  Noodles, Beehoon or Kueh Tiaw.

We ordered Char Siu Kolo Mee RM4.50.  The price is slightly higher, but they do provide a bowl of soup and napkin.

Their portion of Char Siu is very generous. The char siu tastes delicious, you can still smell the aroma of charcoal. It's not as dry and the texture is soft. The noodles wise, its texture is quite hard and slightly dry. It's up to personal preference. I prefers the hard texture.

Finally the kolo mee business has resumed recently.  I managed to visit again two days ago.

Regimen Healthy Food Centre 食为安养生饮食中心 @Premier 101, Kuching

CEASED OPERATION

Location: Lot 57, Ground Floor, Premier 101 Commercial Centre, Jalan Tun Jugah, 93250 Kuching, Sarawak
Business hours: Tuesday - Sunday (8:00AM to 2:00PM), Monday off

Today I want to introduce a restaurant that provide healthy dishes. And most importantly, great taste too. The restaurant is located at Premier 101, a few units distant from Yeow Kee Kopitiam. Its shop appearance is not so noticeable but it should be easy to locate.

As my previous post mentioned, I visited Homemade Pan Mee at Hua Hee Corner frequently. So I passed by Regimen Healthy Food Centre always. I had a peek at their menu, it looked interesting but somehow the restaurant always empty. Out of mercy, I decided to give it a try. And I was so surprised by its good taste.

The restaurant is hygienic, and I have to stress that it is NOT a vegetarian restaurant.

They accept payment via e-wallet too. I usually use favepay so I can come back again for more rebates.

Their menus are displayed at the shop front, specified with price too.

This grouper fish beehoon soup is my mum's order. Something light but flavourful soup.

Grouper fish with mixed vegetable soup. This soup is flavourful, tastes little sour and refreshing. Highly recommended.

Fried Noodles which ordered by my sister-in-law, it doesn't look presentable but she commented it tastes good.

Assorted Mushrooms Black Rice at only RM8.50. The portion is just right.

It's a rare find to get healthy food in Kuching. If you are health conscious type of person, please do check it out.

Homemade Pan Mee 2 @Hua Hee Corner 歡喜閣, Premier 101, Kuching

Location: 8526-8531, Lorong Kempas 6, Kempas Heights, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak
Business hours: Monday - Sunday (7:00AM - 1:30PM), Thursday Off

UPDATED: Homemade Pan Mee 2 has moved to new location, Hua Wei Yuan 华味园 at Galacity

Lately I have my favourite place for makan. I discovered this stall by chance, had kampua mee at here then found out majority of the customers ordered pan mee. Decided to make my next visit to try it out. And it then became my regular place for brunch nowadays.

This is the stall selling Pan Mee which I gonna introduce herein. The stall front looks unattractive and I didn't bother to have a look at the menu on my first visit. It's worth saying, never judge a book by its cover. I'm a pan mee lover. If you like pan mee too, it's definitely worth to pay a visit here. They have variety of pan mee menus for you to choose from.

On my first visit, I had the original pan mee soup. It was nice too. The soup is flavourful. They have 3 types of noodles: flat, round, and hand-torn.

Dry pan mee. Again, don't judge it by its look. This is one of my favourite menus at this stall too. They make the sambal by themselves, no belacan added so you are worry-free if you are allergic to it. I like their meatballs and pork meat slices too, the texture is soft and smooth.

If you like to have something sour and spicy, please do try their pan mee with sour and spicy soup (酸辣湯). The vendor usually provides a slice of lime to add more sourness of the soup. She always reminded me to taste the soup first before adding the extra lime juice. This menu is also my favourite. Slurp!

The other stall selling kolomee and kampua also not a bad choice. My mum had the handmade noodles, its taste has exceeded my expectation too. This morning we went there again, my mum ordered the Foochow soup noodles from the stir-fry stall. The taste also not bad, soup texture was thick and generous portion of ingredients.

Address: SL56, Ground Floor, Gala City, Jalan Tun Jugah, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm, Saturday - Sunday 7:00am - 3:00pm

Gala City is now very popular place for food hunting. We found this shop selling noodles, so decided to try out. It's just a few units away from Southbank Grill & Chill.

I had the normal set, soup with homemade ramen. Price at RM8.50. The soup contains pork innards and meat slices. The soup portion is quite big, the taste is similar to KK Sang Nyuk Mian. The chilli sauce is also very spicy. The noodle texture was soft and chewy. Overall the food was quite good. You can choose different types of noodle and the size of soup portion.

Cornerstone Oyster Mee Sua 磐石蚵仔面线 @吉祥101, Premier 101 Kuching

Address: 48-49, Premier 101 Commercial Centre, Jalan Kempas, 93350 Kuching, Malaysia
Business hours:  Monday - Sunday, closed on Tuesday (update later)

Yeow Kee Kopitiam is usually packed and difficult to get a seat during peak hours. I would opt to settle my meal next door.  I am the regular customer of the fast food stall at this coffeeshop, the variety is wide and the ingredients the vendor used are all quality. Not to mention, the food is delicious too. Best part is you can get fast food as early as 9:30am at here. I'll blog about the fast food next time. Today I wanna introduce this tasty oyster mee sua which I accidentally discovered.

This coffeeshop has changed new owner again. Hope they will sustain long. Honestly speaking, their service was good and the beverages prepared were also up to par. The thickness of teh C didn't disappointing us.

This is the oyster mee sua stall. They accept Sarawak Pay, guess they don't have Boost yet.

The price list for Oyster Mee Sua, RM6 for normal ingredients. If you are keen to add particular ingredients such as intestine and abalone slices, the price differs.

This is my bowl of oyster mee sua and kopi C.

The size of oyster is about the size of soup spoon.

China Northeast Cuisine 东北家乡菜 @Jolibee Food Court 美家樂食坊, Chung Lin Park Kuching

Address: 17, Lorong Mendu 1, Chung Lin Park, 93200 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Operates in evening time, off on every 1st and 15th day lunar month.

This is my first blog post in 2020. I'm still thinking how to do it better since blogging is no longer the trend now. So my objective this year will be mastering videography. I'm still finding the materials to write for my blog. Started last year my post has reduced tremendously because I have put focus on my main business. Travel less and my daily routine is like a loop, nothing special.

Chung Lin Park in Kuching is used to be famous place for massage. There are a number of massage centres here. As their masseuses were mostly from China, the Chinese regional cuisine was also getting started available here. The other day my sister-in-law suggested to try it out as her friends highly recommended a signature dish here.

Jolibee Food Court has revamped. The environment is brighter and more hygienic as compared to before.

This is the stall we patronised. Wide variety of dishes for you to choose from. The business is run by a friendly couple.  They are diligent, only take two days off every month. Rest on the 1st and 15th day of lunar month.

Another vendor also selling Chinese cuisine. Both vendors from different regions.

Another stall behind selling duck wings and necks which are famous as well. I bought duck wings and feet to try out.

The taste of braised duck wings and feet was good, very strong pepper in flavour. It's rather too spicy for me.

The signature boiled meat slices, Shui Zhu Rou Pian 水煮肉片. You can choose the soup base too. I chose Ma La 麻辣, and got them to reduce the spiciness. A bowl of this can be shared for 4 pax. The ingredients contained meat slices, potatoes, mushrooms, beansprouts, cabbage, black fungus, and beancurd.

Stir-fried Eggplants. I usually won't order this because I don't like eggplants. Much to my surprise, this dish is addictive.

回锅肉 translated as twice-cooked meat slices, it's also the signature Sichuan dish. I found the meat slice was kind of hard to chew because it had been cooked twice so the meat was not soft and juicy.
