Jonker Dessert 88, The Museum Cafe in Melaka

Address: 88, Jalan Hang Jebat, 75200 Melaka
Website: http://www.jonker88.com/

Jonker Dessert 88 is very famous in Melaka. Located in the middle of Jonker Street (adjacent to Taste Better, One Bite Durian Puff), all the time flooded with tourists. As we walked pass it, we were amazed by the massive crowd scene. Good business means the food must be very good too? We decided to have a try. Problem, how to get a seat? Observe those who are about to finish their food and stand next to them. Though feel bad, but it would be tough to get a seat if you stay shy. It would be good if there's a seating system implemented. At least implement "first comes first serves" service.

The interior of Jonker Dessert 88 is like a museum. The capacity is quite small actually. Lots of antiques displayed on the shelves. It's self service cafe, you have to queue to place order, wait for them to prepare your food and carry it to your table.

Cendol with gula melaka.

The ingredients: cendol, red beans, coconut milk, shaved ice and gula melaka.

Baba Laksa, soup is thick with coconut milk but sweet. Not my preference as I don't like laksa with sweet taste. A bit awkward to me so I didn't finish it. But it's a good try.

Friend's Sea-food Gravy Noodle. I didn't manage to try.

Taste Better, One Bite Durian Puff

Location: Jalan Hang Jebat (Jonker Street), Melaka

Jonker Street is a must visit place in Malacca. Met a Singaporean retired couple who strongly recommended the durian puff, they even bought a few boxes like they have been missing it for long time. I thought they have the famous durian pancake at Chinatown too? That's my favourite.

The next day we went back to Jonker Street again with the intention to have our coffee break. Passed by the durian puff shop, decided to try it out. Since it's a bite size, we bought 6 pieces to make it a box. 6 pieces at RM10. 4 pieces with durian flavour and 2 pieces with cempedak. Yum yum.. must have it immediately, once it turns warm the taste is not as great as cold. One person 3 pieces each, actually not enough eh. Haaa..

Many tourists were gathered outside the shop chatting.

Cempedak Puff is the new taste. I like it too! Creamy and strong cempedak aroma will melt in your mouth. Nice..

Pricing is here:

The shop next to Taste Better also very famous at Jonker Street. They serve Baba Nyonya Laksa and ice kacang. This shop is packed all the time. It's hard to get a seat because of its limited capacity. We waited for a while and lucky enough to get 4-seat table. Will be introduced in the next post.

Noodle Soup Stall at Jalan Tengkera, Melaka

Location: Jalan Tengkera (opposite Badminton Association of Malacca)

We were looking for duck noodles at Jalan Tengkera as introduced in Bangsarbabe's blog post. Saw this place was quite packed and thought this is the place to have duck noodles. Lol.. when the food was served then only discovered this is not the place we wanted to go. This stall doesn't have any signboard outside, no name is given. And it's located within the owner's house compound. We believed the food should be nice since there were many locals savoring their food.

Kuey Teow Soup

Noodle Soup

Conclusion, taste not bad the kuey teow soup. Soup base has a bit of sweetness, contains 4 pieces of fish ball and spoonful of crispy thingy. Honestly I don't know what the crispy thing is, doesn't taste like lard though. More like deep-fried you tiao or wanton skin to me. If you ask for special, you'll get fried prawn fritters.

Padel Laughter Food, Bicycle Cafe at Precinct 88 (CLOSED)

Address: G13 Precint 88, Lot 11429, Block 11 MTLD, Jalan Song, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak
Business Hours: Mon - Sun: 2:00 pm - 11:30 pm

I visited this cafe quite sometime ago. It's just located next to Rising Ramen at Precinct 88. My friend and I wanted to try its Belgian waffle.

Their beverage menu has very limited choice and I chose to have can drinks instead.

They have pies and some desserts displayed in the chiller. Not so many choices available too.

The cookies on top of chiller look appealing though.

The interior view of the cafe with a very long timber table. It's not so convenient to chat privately with the wide table in between.

Their Belgian waffle with ice cream.  The waffle has the similarity as Dot Cafe's, not 'compact' enough. It's more like the waffles selling by Magic Bite's. PLF's waffle is more expensive. Among all waffles in Kuching, I still prefer GeorgPeck's, they even have green tea and chocolate flavours.

I do not know what this called. It looked appealing to me, with the chocolate coated and pink coloured fillings. The pink coloured ingredient is actually shredded coconut.

I believe they have a lot of improvements since my last visit. Browsed through their facebook page, they even selling mille crepe now. Visit their facebook page, click here.

Klebang Original Coconut Shake, Melaka

Address: Jalan Klebang Besar, 75200 Melaka, Melaka, Malaysia
Business Hours: Monday - Sunday 11:00am - 06:30pm, Friday 02:00pm - 06:30pm

My weekend getaway in Melaka last month was absolutely relaxing. Never did any homework beforehand, just googled online what are the good food available in Melaka and used the GPS app "wave" to get to the location, it is as easy as breeze. We wanted to try the cendol at Kampung Bukit Rambai but it was closed. Guess it was due to the Ramadan month. So we changed our route to try if coconut shake is available.

At first we thought we missed the Klebang Coconut Shake location because we did not have the full address (I just typed in Jalan Klebang Besar) until we saw the row of cars parked on the road side. Oh, not that hard to locate it after all. There was a stall with people queuing.

Their business hours is from Monday to Sunday at 11am to 6.30pm except Friday, they start business at 2.30pm.

Their menu. I asked for coconut shake special (minum) but he gave me bungkus (take-away), the price is RM0.50 higher. Sigh.. come to think of it, with the extra RM1.50 paid we can have coconut shake biasa already. Anyway, stop complaining.

The coconut shake is using Wall's vanilla ice cream. Use blender to blend the ingredients: coconut water with its flesh and scoops of vanilla flavour ice cream.

You do not want to have it under the hot sun. Carry the coconut shake to the dine-in section. It is just a few steps from the take-away stall.

Our coconut shake special.. Tastes very nice and friend loves it (we even came back on the next day before our way back to KL).

Both of us were quite hungry, we had this keropok lekor take-away too. But it didn't taste nice, guess they over-fried it so its taste rather too dry for us.

The dine-in section is selling assorted kuih-muih too, they even have nasi lemak and mee goreng. I bought curry puff, nasi lemak and mee goreng. But the food is tasteless, not up to the expectation at all. Not worth to spend the money on food, their coconut shake is the only best option.

Mille Crepe at Maco Vintage, Johor Bahru

Location: Jalan Ibrahim, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor
Website: http://maco.com.my/

Walked under hot sun, desperately needed to hide in an air-conditioned cafe to cool down and relax. Maco Vintage is located next to Hiap Joo Bakery. After explored around the area, I chose Maco Vintage to pass time before heading back to hotel.

There have a sky well design in the cafe. The atmosphere is pleasant with nice interior design.

Every mille crepe looks attractive to me. I asked the staff for recommendation. She recommended Napoleon.

Napoleon Mille Crepe, can taste 3 flavours in one slice.

Tea time promotion from 3pm to 6pm, tea or coffee with mille crepe is only RM15.

I like this cookies. Nice!

End of my JB post. Coming up next is Melaka..

San Low Seafood 三楼海鲜园, Johor Bahru

Location: Jalan Biru, Taman Pelangi, 80400 Johor Bahru, Johor
Business Hour: 4.30pm - 1.00am

Another JB famous food blogged by Malaysian food bloggers is San Low's bee hoon. Since it received so many reviews, it should be nice. So I had included it for dinner. Its location is quite odd to me, it is actually residential area. Limited parking place and you might need to walk if you park far on the road side.

The table turnover is quite fast. So it's not so hard to get a table. The menu is even displaying on the TV screen. Looks appealing.

Stir-fried vege kai lan. Quite ordinary taste.

Lime Juice

Teochew steamed fish. I told the waitress, doesn't matter of what species of the fish but pick the fish size for two pax. Must be fresh and not too expensive. Then this fish was served in front of us. Haa.. The meat was not softly smooth but fresh. Acceptable.

Long waited bee hoon was finally served. But it looked quite messy, like they cooked it in a rush. As recommended by some, it's crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. But by the look when it was served, this was not as per described. I had the first spoon and I was quite disappointed with it. Not crispy but quite oily. I think it is under cooked. We didn't finish this dish.

Drunken prawns. This is different from what I thought. Usually I had the drunken prawns with egg. The soup was nice but the prawns was not utmost fresh.

This vege was the extra dish we ordered.

The bill summed up to hundred ninety if not mistaken.. Well, never try never know. It's standard price in JB as my friend concluded.
