Pablo Cheesetart @One Utama, Selangor

Address: S130, 2nd Floor, Old Wing, One Utama Shopping Mall, Bandar Utama, 40150 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Business hours: 10am - 10pm daily

The first time I had Pablo cheesetart was exactly 5 years ago in Osaka. The post is here. I was thrilled to know that it's available in Malaysia now. This was one of the reasons I came to 1U for. Aimed to have the big size of cheese tart, not the palm-size mini tart. I was worried my mum would stop me to have it because of its price, RM4X++. But surprisingly she gave me green light to buy.

I decided to have it immediately even though we just had our lunch few minutes ago. The staff was friendly and helpful. Provided me the paper trays and extra napkins.

Other than the cheese tart, I also bought the Mango smoothie.

The staff even gave me two packs of Pablo cookies. Nice! We love both flavours. Matcha flavour has really heavy matcha and milk aroma, not oversweet. It is a good idea if you want to get a box of this for your friend or relatives on special occasion.

The texture of the cheese tart. Had the first bite of it, found out it is slightly different from the one I had in Osaka. The cheese tart is not as firm, and the cheese aroma is not as intense also. Comparing both, this one is more light and 'fruity'. I won't say that it is a bad thing. I will get detest fast if the taste of cheese is too overwhelming. I like both, but the cheese tart in Osaka has crispier tart crust even though I consumed it late in the evening. Oh well, guess it is due to the different climate? I finished 3/4 of it on the spot, my mum had the 1/4. That's how good taste it is. No guilt, only satisfaction.

B & Best Restaurant 美美海鲜粥面家, Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Address: 12, Jalan SS 4C/5, SS4, 47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Business Hours: Friday - Wednesday 7:00am - 4:00pm (close on alternate Thursday)

Almost abandon my blog after blogged my Mount Kinabalu climbing experience. The feelings of agony was fading fast, I had to note down the moments immediately while I still can recall vividly. Time flies, two weeks passed after my KK trip. I still haven't even finish the last post of my KL trip in March!

Ok, back to the last post of my KL trip. I was planning to visit B & Best Restaurant since I saw KYspeaks post his breakfast at B & Best Restaurant in his IG numerous time. I told my friend, I have to pay a visit there. On the day leaving KL, she drove me here for lunch.

Not many choices on the day I visit. Couldn't recognise the type of fish in chunks.

Didn't know how to order, we just sat and figuring out until a friendly young guy came to us and take our order. First time here, I asked for a mix ingredients soup with kueh tiaw. And my friend asked for fish kueh tiaw soup.

My bowl of mixed seafood (lala, fish balls, fish slices, oyster) with kueh tiaw soup. The fish slices were fresh, but the texture was rather rough. Of course, with the higher price you can get grouper fish slices with much tender texture. No complain, I was pretty contented with a bowl of this. The broth is clear, and not that flavory as I thought. Quite light in taste. Hmm, it would taste better with white pepper I think? Most disappointing, no pork lard on top. Maybe it's only available by request.

My friend's order, fish slices only with kueh tiaw soup. I appreciate the fish slices not overcooked, whereas my friend not. She grumbled the fish slices still like 30% raw.

My friend's friend came to join us later. Paid the bill about RM5X+ including two glasses of drinks. Price was acceptable, the friend's bowl cost RM25. If not mistaken, she asked for white pomfret fish. My verdict, I appreciate the freshness of the seafood but I won't crave for it because I always can get the freshest seafood in Sarawak. And I simply don't like the broth, it is too plain for me.

Claypot XO Fish Head Noodles @Restoran Goon Wah 冠華首創XO鱼頭米, SS2 Damansara Jaya, Selangor

Address: No. 38 Jalan SS 22/21 Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
Business hours: 11:00AM - 3:30PM; 5:30PM - 9:30PM (Monday - Friday); 10:00AM - 11:00PM (Saturday - Sunday)

I went to KL in March for a short getaway. My friend brought me here for early dinner, I wasn't really keen to have fish head noodles until she stressed that the soup is free-flow. You can unlimited request them to refill the soup (not ingredients) and the soup refill is FOC. What a good news for those who love to drink soup like me!

The branch we went is located in front of Atria Shopping Gallery. There's another branch located at Damansara Uptown too. When I googled, discovered that Goon Wah's HQ is actually located at Kuchai Lama.

The one-page menu. We only ordered their specialty claypot XO fish head noodles (RM14.90) in small size as we wanted to have something else later that evening. My friend assured me that it's sufficient for two of us.

The beverages menu.

The interior of Restoran Goon Wah. There are many bad reviews on their Facebook page, commented their service was bad and rude. But on the day we visited, the service was quite good. Perhaps not many customers during that time too. We asked for refill once but then they automatically came to refill the soup for us from time to time.

The ingredients contained thick vermicelli, deep-fried fish head, yam slices, bean curd skin, bean curb cubes, tomato, salted vege, ginger and sprinkled with coriander on top. I really like their soup, tangy and savoury. Couldn't taste the XO, perhaps it had vaporised after boiled. The thick vermicelli portion was just enough for two, but it won't be enough for me if I came with empty stomach. Basically I got my stomach filled with 70% fluid and 30% ingredients.

MAIU @ Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Selangor

Address: No. 41, Jln Temenggong 21/9, Bdr Mahkota Cheras, 43200 Cheras, Selangor
Tel: +6o3-90100777

Last year October, I googled Cheras Japanese food. MAIU was on top of the result list. After reading some reviews from their Facebook page, some bad and good. We decided to give it a try. Walked in and found out they serve buffet, of course they do have ala carte too but as compared to the price, my friend decided to go for buffet as the value is more worthy. I doubted our stomach capacity.

2014 pricing: Adult RM48.80+, Children RM25.80+ (subject to Tax and Service Charges).

Looking at the menu, so many choices.. we were so tempted to choose every dish. I don't think it is achievable. Choose wisely! The most expensive ones! Yay, right... But still we were so full (nearly puke) after second round.

Itako Kyuli (Octopus)

Kani Salad. I quite like this salad. The vege is fresh and the sauce is sour, good for those who are on diet.

Salmon Skin Salad. I love its crispy salmon skin.

Salmon & Shiro Maguro. Initially I was quite skeptical about the quality of food a buffet will serve. Surprisingly, they serve fresh sashimi with thick slice.

Inari Sushi. Never my favourite but friend wanted. Taste nothing special. If go for buffet, better don't choose this rather ordinary dish.

I doubt why we ordered Onion Rings? The boss (who pays the bill) made the decision.

I am a mushroom lover. So I asked for it.

Maguro Tempura. I guess he picked this because of the "thumb up" next to the tick box.

Salmon. Taste ordinary.

Soft Shell Crab Hand Rolls

Salmon Skin Maki, Crunchy Salmon Skin Maki and Meteor Maki. 6 pieces each. We were struggling to finish them. Overeating.

My favourite, Chawanmushi. Taste not so ordinary. Yummy.

Repeat ordered Salmon and Shiro Maguro.

Prawn and vege tempura.

I vividly remember when this Salmon Shioyaki was served,  I was like "Geez! What?! So big!".  I nearly wanted to cry. We were literally "torturing" ourselves to finish it. After this meal, I told my friend, never go for buffet again. We were just too ambitious and overestimate ourselves. Felt so guilty after a heavy meal.

Overall we are satisfied with food quality. The service was good too, they refilled our green tea from time to time. They have two branches. Check out their Facebook page here.

Susan's Bistro @ Bandar Mahkota Cheras

Address: 6, Jalan Temengung 3/9, Bandar Mahkota Cheras, 43200 Kajang, Selangor
Tel: 03-9010 4588

Used Google to search any nice Western food in Cheras and Susan's Bistro appeared few times in the list. At first I was quite hesitated as the facade of the restaurant looked quite 'old' fashioned. But since the reviews were good, decided to give it a try.

Caesar salad, tastes ordinary. But I quite like it.

Mushroom soup, I love this soup despite others think it's just mediocre. Soup is creamy and thick.

Grilled salmon

My chicken chop

Our Tiramisu dessert.. very nice!

Hope I will have chance to visit Susan's Bistro again as I am keen to try their escargot, pizza, pasta and creme Brulee!

Chili's at Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang

Chili's! I'm not an absolute fan of Chili's but can't deny that their food quality is in control and taste nice too. Last month been there with a friend after my 5 hours lesson. Friend wanted to have pizza but unfortunately Vivo doesn't serve alcohol. So we wanted to visit another restaurant which seemed like 'not-so-popular' as we observed the low customer flow. It was peak hour for dinner, if the restaurant is not full that means 'something' ya? I might be wrong. But Chili's had long queue and the waiting time was like 45 minutes! After a round of deciding place to eat, we came back to the not-so-popular restaurant again. But since the queue at Chili's was cleared, we settled there.

My throat was unwell. So when my friend craved for pizza, I started to crave for pasta too. I'm a pasta lover, especially carbonara fettuccine. But browsed through the menu, they only have two menus for pasta. Hmm.. At no choice, I chose one of them. CILANTRO PESTO PASTA - the not spicy one. You can view the menu on Chili's website too.

My choice of pasta: CILANTRO PESTO PASTA. I love it! It tastes a lot better than my expectation! Enjoyed it to the last bite.

My friend insisted to order this WINGS OVER BUFFALO and failed to finish it. In the end, I finished the rest.

My friend's TEQUILA-LIME FISH STEAK. Sorry, I don't how it tastes like. Should be good too I guess?

This is the third time I had Chili's. Sinful but no doubt the food is really good!

Rakuzen Japanese Restaurant, Empire Shopping Gallery

Early this month, I had a short trip to KL. When about the dinner time, it is always a headache where to have dinner. I didn't want to have heavy meal and my friend didn't want to go too far. So we randomly picked a good rating Japanese restaurant from Google search results, Rakuzen Japanese Restaurant at Empire Shopping Gallery.

We didn't make any reservation but we were ok to sit at the bar. Didn't want to waste more time since we both were starving. I can't recall the price of the dishes because it's not my bill. The atmosphere is very similar to Sushi Zanmai at Fahrenheit 88. But comparing to Sushi Zanmai, the freshness of sashimi at Rakuzen is much better. It's weird that different branches deliver different quality of food. I tried two branches of Sushi Zanmai, first time at Fahrenheit 88 and second time at One Utama. I told my friend how good Sushi Zanmai is after I tried it at Fahrenheit 88 but it was disappointing when we had it at One Utama.

These are what we had at Rakuzen Japanese Restaurant, the branch at Empire Shopping Gallery. Photo quality is not so great since it's taken using iphone 4.

We both enjoyed the meal very much. If not mistaken, it costs about RM90+. It's okay to pamper ourselves once in a while.
