Coollala Avocado Juice @CityOne MegaMall, Kuching

Address: #G5, Ground Floor, Mall 2, CityONE Megamall, No. 1, Jalan Song, 93350 Kuching
Business hours: Monday - Sunday 11am - 11pm

Coollala was used to sell coconut ice cream. In 2017, they started to sell juices. Juice made fresh with tangerine, mango, sweet purple potatoes, and grapes. The variety of juice got extended, now they have avocado as their signature menu, strawberry, raspberry, passion fruits, taro, etc. All the fruits are imported. They even have milk tea with pearls.

I bought their signature avocado juice. Too bad it only comes in one size, the volume is really too much for me. The avocado juice with fresh milk is really thick and concentrated. After consuming half,  I started to get tired of it. Nevertheless, the price RM14 for this tall cup is acceptable due to the higher cost of imported fruits.

If I go to CityOne again, I would like to try out their different juices. It's quite a dilemma to decide which to buy when you wish to try it all.

Revisit on 22/07, my mum had Sweet Potato Fresh Milk RM14. She liked it.

I had this Strawberry Yakult, also RM14. Not the type of thick juice, it's more refreshing. Good thing is that they accept payment via Boost, Sarawak Pay, Alipay and WeChat pay too.

Chun Yang Taiwan Black Tea 春陽茶事@Emporium Kuching, Kuching

Address: G1, Ground Floor, Emporium No. 9, Jalan Tun Jugah, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Monday - Sunday 11:00 AM - 11:45 PM

There are total 3 cafes at Emporium selling pearl milk tea. Chun Yang 春陽茶事 is the one at the entrance. The design of the storefront and logo look very "Taiwanese". It reminds me of Chun Shui Tang 春水堂, the restaurant in Taiwan whose staff invented the pearl milk tea.

The interior design looks good, but.. as we entered, the strong smell of herbs was quite unbearable.  I didn't know what they were brewing in the pot. Honestly, the scent was not so pleasant.

I had the one in the middle called Brown Sugar Pearl with Fresh Milk RM12.90. It tastes good, the sweetness can't be customised. But it was just nice, not as sweet as I thought it would be. The pearls were very chewy, it was nicer as compared to what I had at HiCaa.

HiCaa 贺茶 @Vivacity Megamall, Kuching

Address: G065AS & G065BS, Ground Floor, Vivacity Megamall, Jalan Wan Alwi, 93350 Kuching, Malaysia

Lately there are many bubble tea shops opened in Kuching. This business expansion of HiCaa is quite aggressive as well, 3 outlets in total and 1 outlet in Miri. I visited the one at Vivacity Megamall. The interior design of this outlet is attractive, it's a good place to hang out with friends.

Black Pearl Milk Tea, Strawberry Milkshake, and Signature Cocoa Cream Milk Tea.

The drinks itself was good but not the black pearls, it's slightly hard not chewy enough.

ABC Stall No. 11 @Pending Seafood Centre, Kuching

Location: Lorong Simen Raya 2, Pending Industrial Estate, 93450 Kuching (Pending Seafood Centre)

I never know there's a ABC (ais batu campur) stall here at Pending Seafood Centre until a friend mentioned its ice kacang taste good like no other in Kuching. The journey to Pending Seafood Centre is quite a distant from my house, so I rarely go there. But in fact this place is another good choice for seafood other than Top Spot Food Court in Kuching. Somehow I reckon their seafood is much fresher than at Top Spot Food Court because the fisherman's wharf is just nearby.

The ABC stall is a bit worn-out, 2 - 3 tables in front of the shop. Majority of the customers came for take-away and their take-away portion was really big, like a family consumption size. I can imagine how happy their kids will be when their father brought it home.

Their menus are wrapped with plastic bag that blurred out the wording. Other than ABC, they have rojak too.

The ABC. I can't remember I ordered ABC or special, but I remember there was no cendol inside. Overall it tastes equally good as Swee Kang's. But the shaved ice is slightly coarse.

This is the stall with no name nor signboard. Only their regular customers know its existence.

At the entrance, Boon Seng Seafood Industries is on your right hand side.

I don't know their business hour. Will try to make a second visit and update this blog entry in the future.

Young Su's Ice-Cream @Jalan Song, Kuching (CLOSED)

Address: SL 11414, PL54, Jalan Song, Tabuan Heights, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak
Business Hours: Monday 12:00pm - 5:00pm; Tuesday - Sunday 12:00pm - 9:00pm

Young Su's ice cream has been existing for long time. The owner is a Korean. The ice cream ingredients are shipped from Korea too. It used to be a happening place to hang out for youngsters. Nice yogurt ice cream with free toppings. I was not into ice cream until recently I started to have the crave for it.

There is one time I went there with my friend when the owner was preparing to close shop.  I should say he is not a friendly but that's his unique personality. He was not pleased at first. Nevertheless I still got my ice cream and savoured the ice cream every spoon. I told my friend the Korean owner is a weirdo. Though felt rather offended... as long as the ice cream is good, I forgive him for being unfriendly. Haa..

It used to have different sizes. Now only one size available, you can choose the flavour of ice cream from the list. I personally like yogurt + green tea flavour. Haven't have the gut to try the cheese flavour.

Free toppings. You can use the scoop as much as you like. The owner is pretty generous on this.

My yogurt + green tea ice cream with all the toppings. Gosh... tastes real good and refreshing. I like the sourness and the crunchy toppings. Super love the combination.

I told my friend, I have the sudden crave for Young Su's ice cream nowadays. It has the magic to lure me from time to time. Slurp..

Pisang Goreng (Banana Fritter), Stall No. 14 @ Song Kheng Hai

Location: Pandungan, Jalan Song Kheng Hai, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak
Business Hours: Open daily except Chinese New Year Holidays, 11:30am - 6:30pm

Quite sometime ago, I discovered something new at Song Kheng Hai. And, I am getting addicted to it. The "pisang goreng", banana fritter. I know it may seems unexciting to some of you as you cannot expect how special the pisang goreng can be right.. The stall no. 14 is nearby the stall selling the famous gongpia at Song Kheng Hai. No name is given. No menu nor food photo is displayed.  I normally walked pass without giving notice of it.

One day, went there to 'tabao' (takeaway) food for early dinner. Had a glance at the cardboard attached, written "芝麻香蕉糕“translation: sesame banana fritter. Decided to give it a try. Since then, I kept going back there for more.

I bought RM3, RM1 is roughly 4-5 pieces. Taukenio is very generous, she always put in extra pieces. I cannot tell you how delicious it is. You got to try it yourself. I will drool whenever I think of its taste.. The aroma of sesame and the crispiness of the batter after deep dried, really syiok to max. The ripeness of the banana is just right (unlike some vendors used unripe banana which tastes starchy). Even it turns cold, the good taste is still maintained.

They sell also breadfruit fritter. But the banana fritter is still the best. I bought RM3 of banana fritter and RM1 of breadfruit fritter two days ago. I finished RM2 of banana fritter alone. Each bite, I kept amazed at how good taste it is.

I strongly recommend you to try it out. Let me know if you like it too ok.

Good Place for Early Breakfast & High Tea @ Hi Bread Kopitiam, Kuching

Location: Jalan Rumbia off Jalan Pandungan Utara, Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Mon-Sat: 5:45 am - 6:00 pm; Sun: 5:45 am - 2:00 pm

When I worked at Petanak area, everyday I would pass by Hi-Bread Kopitiam. At initial stage, there were not many patrons. Later their business slowly picking up. Now there have many patrons visiting every early morning. Parents bring their kids there for breakfast before school. And, their pricing is notably reasonable.

The breakfast set looks very appealing. It is important to start your morning with healthy breakfast.

Egg Mayonnaise Sandwich, my favourite. The portion of egg mayo is so generous.

Beef Salami Sandwich. I like this one as well.

There still have different menus which you might be interested to try. Not only sandwich, they also sell assorted pastries, e.g. custard bun, raisin bun, ham roll, red bean bun, etc.

* Hi-Bread Kopitiam also has another branch at Pending (adjacent to Pending Post Office).

Coffee Obsession @ Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce Road, Kuching

Address: Suite 29, Kueh Hock Kui Commercial Centre, Lorong Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce 18, 93150 Kuching, Sarawak.
Tel: (017) 222 2885
https://www.facebook.com/coffeeobsessioncafe

I have been to Coffee Obsession 4 times until to-date. Wanted to blog about it but too many blog entries to choose from. Plus, I would like to try more of their food before I blog it to public. So far, I have tried their apple pie, chicken pie, Turkey quiche, bread pudding, spaghetti pudding and Creme Brulee. Haven't try their sandwich though.

The cafe is located on first floor. I was quite surprised with their location, the area is quite commercial for office. It is not difficult to locate it, adjacent to Bata building, and next is Cat City Holidays travel agency.

I think they did the fittings and furniture themselves. My eyes fix at every corner, very impressive. I like their creativity with the chairs, tables, bookshelf and hand wash sink with old bicycle.

Variety of desserts and three types of pie / quiche. The egg tart is huge, costs only RM2. The pies and quiches taste really good too.

This is the cake named after their own. The bottom layer is red bean actually, middle layer is tiramisu. I quite like the combination. But the sweetness should be reduced.

Rose with French Vanilla tea. This is my favourite. If you like tea and rose, try this. I bet you would love it too. The cup is BIG and it is only RM8, hot water refill is free. The waiters and the boss, John are very friendly and observant, they would come to ask when your cup is empty. Their customer service is remarkably good.

Hawaiian Latte, my friend's order.

I had cappuccino on my third visit.

Creme Brulee. One of my favourites at Coffee Obsession.

Turkey Quiche. Aw.. this one is awesomely taste good too.

Chicken pie. The crust is neither too hard or soft.  Just right. The content has generous ingredients too.

Bread pudding. Ok, on my next visit, I would want to have this again. I don't mind to rotate having the desserts I have tried since it tastes so good.

This is spaghetti pudding. By the name of it, you might have hesitation to try it. But its taste is not that awkward. Trust me.

I think we are spoiled with choice of cafe now in Kuching. Though too many choices, I still prefer to hang out at the place which price is lower (price conscious). At Coffee Obsession, I can spend RM8 for tea and RM6 for a Turkey quiche.

Rusty Bean & Batter, Kuching

Location: M42/M43, Level 1, ST3 Shopping Mall, Jalan Simpang Tiga, Kuching, Malaysia
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rustybeanandbatter

I have patronised Rusty Bean & Batter for .... 3 times in total, I think so. Every visit I couldn't resist myself not to order their waffle. Mainly because they serve the waffles that suit my taste. Well, I have not got the chance to try out the signature coffee yet, the Rusty Fairy (they use cotton candy to replace white sugar).

They have assorted waffles and pancakes to choose from. Apart from there, they also serve brunch menus. If you spent RM150 and above, you can redeem a tumbler with their logo on it (even combined receipts is acceptable).

Their ambience is nice, no doubt. You can roll your eyes slowly to examine the interior design at every corner. Especially the steel pipe structures with different shape of lightbulbs. It has the elements of what a hipster cafe should have.

They have cheese cakes too, if you are not into waffles and sandwiches type.

This mille crepe is quite special with a heart shape rainbow in the middle.

My hot chocolate.

I hope I didn't get the name wrong. It has been sometime actually. If not mistaken, its name is Alice in Wonderland. Excuse my bad memory. This was my second time I had it. I love the chocolate syrup on top of the waffle. When it turned hard, its taste blends so well with the waffle. Sinful desserts but irresistible.

The apricot pancakes taste alright for me. But my friend liked it.

Below pictures are taken on my third visit, celebrating a good friend's birthday. I can't recall what drinks I had, but its taste quite refreshing. Not bad actually.

As we ordered also sandwich and cake, so I asked for the waffle with a scoop of ice cream. Taste as good as Alice in Wonderland. But I still prefer it with chocolate syrup.

Sorry, I certainly cannot recall the name of this dish. Three of us had a hard time to eat this, ended up we ate it ingredients separately. I quite like the egg mayo, perhaps because it's my favourite.

Fruits mille crepe. Look at the layers, full of cream. We enjoyed it to the last bit too.
