Yoogane Korean Cuisine @Vivacity Megamall, Kuching

Address: Level 3, Vivacity Megamall, Jalan Wan Alwi, 93350 Kuching
Business hours: 10:00AM - 10:00PM

My friend tried this dak galbi from Korea not long ago, had high praise on it so I suggested to my bro to have dinner here last Tuesday. Here we were, bumped into my bro's colleagues at the entrance who also had two thumbs up for their food.

We ordered the Yoogane Army Stew (RM89.90) as my SIL prefers to have soup and no spicy. I personally prefer to try their chicken galbi. Maybe I'll jio my friend to try it one day. They also provide two side dishes, kimchi and white radish.

The staff came to help us to cook from time to time until it's ready to serve. The mozzarella cheese is so enticing, it would be even taste better to stir fry it with noodle.

The staff recommended this Chicken Galbi Cheesy Fried Rice to us, saying he has tried it and taste very good.

It was really cheesy indeed.

Overall, the food was good. But because it's a restaurant, the 10% service charge with 6% SST is really a kill. Even though their service was good. We paid about RM26 alone for the extra cost. I guess I'll have to think twice to have it again because of the extra charges.

Kimchi Korea @One Jaya Lifestyle Mall, Kuching

Address: No. G1, Lot 11430 Block 11, One Jaya The Lifestyle Mall, Jalan Song, Muara Tebas Land District, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Tuesday - Saturday (11:30am - 2:30pm; 6:00pm - 9:30pm), Sunday (2:30pm - 9:30pm), Monday off

I ever blogged this place before in 2014. As the owner has changed, so here I am to blog this small Korean restaurant again. From time to time, I would have sudden crave of Korean food. Generally the Korean food here is not cheap, especially those manned by Korean owners. Of course they are authentic, but if you are on shoe-string budget, the last resort is this place. Though I don't think the current owner is a Korean.

Different owner, different menu. But they do serve the most popular dishes, like Kimchi stew, BBQ pork belly, Budae stew, spicy rice cake and fried chicken. Plus point, their pricing is reasonable and affordable too.

The only drawback I can pick on is their side dishes. They provide one bowl of kimchi and that's it. Whereas the previous owner provided two types of side dishes. Anyway, no complaint. For the price you pay, this is what you get.

We waited quite long for our food to be served. Starved.. and finally our fried chicken is here. First bite, wow.. it tastes great but subsequent bites my tongue started to get numb. It was too salty. I doubt I would want to order this again on my next visit as I have phobia of its saltiness.

The kimchi stew. We ordered the large size (RM25), sufficient for two. The ingredients are really sumptuous. It has kimchi, beancurd, luncheon, pork and chicken. Generous portion and totally worth the price. I hope their standard will remain the same as this.

The last visit we had budae stew. It was not bad too. Next time I'll still order this kimchi stew. Look at the picture, making me mouth watering again.

The Kimbap Korean Restaurant @Brighton Square, Kuching

Address: Sublot 16, Lot 7691, Brighton Square, Jalan Song, Brighton Square, 93350 Kuching.
Business Hour: 10:30am - 10:00pm (Sunday off)

Wasn't plan to have dinner at The Kimbap initially. As we passed by this restaurant, the food aroma was too enticing so we settled our dinner here. It was around time 8:45pm when we walked in. As we sat down snapshotting the menu, the waiter informed us the kitchen would be close at 9pm and asked us to place order fast. But the business hour was stated close at 10pm, it was not even 9pm yet. I rationalised may be they need to take an hour to do kitchen cleaning. Then not more than 5 minutes later, another waiter came to urge us again. I wasn't pleased after the second reminder. I asked if we would have sufficient time to finish our meal or not if the kitchen closed at 9pm. The waiter answered if the order placed before 9pm, then we can stay until we finish our meal.

Oh well, this is the first time I couldn't enjoy browsing the menu. We just picked without long pause, didn't even got time to read the beverage menu section. When the food was served, no time to savour slowly too. I could feel the time pressure. In the end, we managed to leave at 10pm. Though the customer service was good and the waiters politely informed us that the kitchen closing at 9pm. But the memory of being pressed will be long term. I wouldn't want to have late dinner at any of these restaurants at Brighton Square next time.

I snapshot the menu first before browsing it slow. So many choices but we only had so little time to make up our mind.

The free dishes, two small bowls of clear soup and a small plate of kimchi.

Curry rice, RM10

Omurice, RM10

Rapokki with cheese, RM14.50

The Kimbap Daebak Chicken, RM18

Soybean Paste Jigae, RM10.50

They have wide range of variety. Looking at the menu, you would be indecisive. But the fried chicken pictures definitely make you mouth-watering. Overall the food was tasted ok but not really impressive.

Seoul Garden @ 3rd Mile, Kuching

Address: Lot 2818 Block 10, Central Park Commercial Centre, 3rd Mile, Jalan Tunku Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, 93150 Kuching, Sarawak.
Phone: (082) 424 870
Business hours: 10am - 2:30pm; 6pm - 10pm (Monday - Sunday)

Seoul Garden has existed in Kuching since my college year at Inti Sarawak. My bro commented that the BBQ buffet was good. For dinner session, one adult RM49 (RM52 after GST). Lunch session is cheaper. Do check with them for the latest pricing. They have promotion from time to time. The dining duration is limited to 2 hours. The customer service was very good and attentive. The staff came to flip the meat on grill from time to time, cut and placed the grilled meat on our plate.

The BBQ buffet is located at the first floor. The restaurant on ground floor is for a la carte menu.

Free flow carbonated drinks.

The spread. Now we can enjoy unlimited kimchi, how good is that?! Seoul Garden has supplied kimchi to numerous of supermarkets in Kuching. Veges and fruits are all super fresh.

Variety of meat, marinated or plain, lean or fat meat piece to choose from.

Tempura and kimbap. They also provide rice.

Let's get it started!

Looks so enticing.. I enjoyed eating the pork belly with rice.

Oh yeah, there's another Korean restaurant also named Seoul Garden opened at Vivacity shopping mall. But it is not the same Seoul Garden at 3rd Mile. Seoul Garden at Vivacity is franchised, owned by Singapore company. That's why my bro said its taste is not as nice as the Seoul Garden at 3rd Mile.

Korean Products at One Jaya, Kuching

Location: One Jaya Shopping Mall, Jalan Song, Kuching (Facing Porky, next to Cuppa-Kap Cafe)

My friend is a kimchi lover. So we regularly have Korean food from time to time. I assume this Korean Products at One Jaya is related to the Korean Products at Premier 101 since they use the same name. But the Korean restaurant at Premier 101 has updated their menu recently, mostly BBQ for family serving size and they have excluded my favourite of Korean dish, jjajangmyeon. I doubt why they don't serve jjajangmyeon anymore. Korean Products at One Jaya serves economic Korean food. Affordable price for single portion.

If you can take spicy food, this is the best place for spicy kimchi. I can take it light but not as heavy as my friend, she even complained it is too spicy than her expectation. Lesson learned, don't challenge yourself to finish it as you might get sore throat the next day.

They even provide two types of side dishes, different dishes each time. I guess you can get them to refill too? I didn't try as it's sufficient for two of us normally.

This noodles served cold. Forgot its name though. Haa.. I quite like this cold noodles.

The side dishes served on another visit to Korean Products. Spicy kimchi, and raw garlic chives with cucumber slices.

Kimchi Ramen. Should be the instant noodles but added some ingredients.

My order, didn't note down the dish name (will update next time). It looks different from the menu photo, thought it has lala as illustrated but none. The whole bowl only the hand-torn noodles. Quite disappointed but it tastes surprisingly nice.

Simple ingredients: Sesame seeds, seaweed, egg, a few carrot slices and spring onions.
