The Food Truck "NOMS On Street", Kuching

Location: Jalan Tun Jugah (in front of Mita Cake House), Jalan Song (in front of Starbucks) - As they are on mobile, do check out their Facebook page for location of the day.
Business hours: Mon-Sun 7:00 pm - 1:00 am

Have anyone of you noticed there's always a food truck parked in front of Mita Cake House on Jalan Tun Jugah? Last year October I went there to try it out with my friend. Out of curiosity, just wanted to find out what's their menu.

There were customers waiting for their take away. Instead of 'tabao'ing it home, we decided to have it on the spot.

Their menu: Old School Carbonara, Beefed Out Burger, Mama Mia Sandwich, Sexay Chic Thigh Burger. Now they have newly added menu: chicken wing, which looks so enticing.

We ordered Mama Mia Sandwich and Old School Carbonara. But when we opened the box, found out they got us the wrong order. Instead of Old School Carbonara, they gave us a burger. The guy apologised for the mistake. Very sincere and super friendly customer service. He let us have the wrong order and brought us the correct one. I have very good first impression on them.

This is Mama Mia Sandwich. I like this the most because the outer is crispy, and it is easy to bite. This wonderful combination contained the melted cheddar cheese, roasted chicken, tomatoes, ham, mayonaise and mustard sauce. Highly recommended.

The Beefed Out Burger. The patty is juicy, but personally still prefer Project Burger's beef patty.

This is the Old School Carbonara. Though Mr. Phua has explained that their carbonara is not the creamy version, it is french style (if my memory serves me right). Well, somehow...  I was rather disappointed with the taste. It was watery and plain.

They accept appointment for events. If you are planning to hold party or events,  you may consider to get their catering service. They will drive to the appointed location, serve your guests with freshly made burgers.

Once again, do check out their Facebook page for latest location.

Ping Fried Chicken Wing 阿宾炸鸡翅膀 @Peach Garden, Kuching

Location: Peach Garden Food Centre, Jalan Song, Kuching

In Kuching, I bet you know where to get the famous fried chicken wing. There is another place you can get an equally decent deep-fried chicken wing too. It's guaranteed crispy and the chicken wings sold out very fast, especially the bishop's nose (chicken butt). Its stall is located at Peach Garden Food Centre. Only available in the evening, normally sold out around 9pm (or even earlier).

Ping fried chicken wing, paired with the special dipping sauce. Look at the golden brown chicken wings, this is best match with beers. Agree?

If you have your favourite list of deep-fried chicken wings in Kuching, please email to me at igomakan@gmail.com. Thank you thank you!

Best Pork Satay in Kuching @Carpenter Street, Kuching

Location: Carpenter Street, Kuching

This place opposite the Siang Ti Temple 上帝庙 at Carpenter Street is famous for its fish ball beancurd soup and pork satay. Satay will be available in the noon after 2pm and normally finish before 4pm. Usually if order a bowl of fish ball beancurd soup will not be sufficient because of its small portion. Should order at least 5 sticks of pork satay as side order.

The famous pork satay is superb tender and succulently juicy. Marinated with dark soy sauce. It is different from chicken satay. The thick peanut sauce is also another highlight, it is the best accompaniment to satay.

The handmade fish balls with vermicelli soup. The soup base is light but tasty. Grandmas and grandpas' favourite.

Aside pork satay and fish ball soup, you should try its kueh chap and fish porridge too. These are all the signature dishes in Kuching which you should not be missed. Just one street stretches from front to back, you can hunt so many good food here:

Nyan Shin Cafe 源成茶室

Black Bean Coffee & Tea Company

Fried Chicken Rice @Aladin Cafe 神灯, Carpenter Street, Kuching

Location: Carpenter Street, Kuching
Business hours: 6pm - 9pm (normally sold out around this hour)

I have known this Aladin Cafe since my college time. It is famous with its fried chicken rice. Another symbolic of this shop is the owners have tattoos. Well... tattoo is a form of art, it doesn't mean the person with tattoo is evil, right.

They provide two types of dipping sauce. And also a bowl of salted vege soup. I like their fried chicken rice.. But saw a family behind me ordered a plate of fried chicken wings made me so envious. And I also noticed there were a number of customers ordered their chicken porridge.  I should try it on my next visit.

Close up of the deep fried chicken. Crispy skin and the chicken meat is tender. Can't wait to go back for the full plate of fried chicken wings next time.

There are many nice food along carpenter street. Convenient for tourists to hunt. The best nice pork satay also available opposite Aladin Cafe. Will blog it next.
