Do you like seafood? If you do, this post is meant for you. There are a number of places for seafood in Kuching. Buntal is one of the well-known places for fresh seafood. But driving from Kuching town to Buntal take approximately 40 minutes more or less, depends on your location and road traffic condition. It's not too far from Damai. If you come here for Rainforest World Music Festival in July, you can opt to have your lunch/dinner here too.
There are a number of seafood restaurants here at Kampung Buntal. Most of the popular ones are run by Chinese. No pork served, so no worries if you are a Muslim. There was a table of Malay customers too when we went there. If you want a halal restaurant, there are also restaurants run by Muslims.
I used to try Teo Seafood too, near at the entrance to Kampung Buntal. If not mistaken, this was my first time to try Buntal 88 Seafood Centre. Verdict? Exceeded my expectation, tasted real good. We went on Monday, huhu.. Luckily they were available on Monday too.
This is how it looks like in day time. Oh yeah, surprisingly they even have two VIP rooms equipped with air-conditioner.
This was our view from seating. The restaurant with best view at Buntal is Lim Hock Ann Seafood. I'll blog next time if I have chance to go Buntal again for seafood.
Stir-fried Midin/milin/bilin. On the way to Buntal, there are midin plants everywhere.
Lala clam soup. This was our favourite among all, the clams were so fresh and its size was slightly bigger than those I had at Jalan Alor. The soup was not as spicy but guaranteed tasty.
This is their signature fried tofu. The tofu has stuffed with century egg and salted egg yolk. Not too bad actually, but I still prefer the particular signature fried tofu at Batu Lintang.
Deer meat with dry chilies. The meat was tenderly soft. This dish is really goes well with rice.
Salted egg crabs. After we finished all the dishes as shown above, then only this crabs dish was served. Though long wait, but it didn't disappoint us. Crab meat was superb fresh, it's like they just caught it when we placed the order.
Guess how much is the bill? We had 2 coconuts, 1 milo, 1 Zapple can drink, 4 bowls of rice, and the above dishes for 3 pax portion. Bill totalled up RM127.00 for 4 pax. It's reasonable price, I thought it would be more than RM150. Crabs were the most expensive, RM55 for two nos.
Map to Buntal 88 Seafood Centre:
The food was good not greater than Lim hock Ann. A small cross section of the red fish or ikan merah was rm 47. Definitely over priced.
ReplyDeleteNoted, will try out Lim Hock Ann next time.
