You might have heard a lot of Gim Burger's advertisement on radio. My friend and I had been wanting to try it too for quite sometime. After sometime of its establishment, finally we got the chance to try its burger.

Aussie Rules Burger. Honestly...... the burger is handful! Very thick and high. It is no way you can bite the burger without separate the contents. The pastry was averagely good. Contents include beetroot, pineapple, tomato, egg, cheddar and lettuce.

Gim's Classic Burger contains beef, tomato, onion, pickled cucumber and cheddar.

Takeaways Simpang Tiga Burger Stall, Kuching

Location: Jalan Uplands, Kuching. The building block adjacent to KWSP Kuching.

This burger stall is not unfamiliar to the students at Swinburne in Kuching. I heard about it quite sometime and patronised a few times. Normally there are many patrons waiting for their takeaway order to be ready. What's so special about their burger? I guess their menu is more unique. They add a special ingredient - pineapple slice, which the aroma blends it well with beef.

Sorry for the blurred image. The menu is hung on the wall. They have hotdog, beef, egg and lamb.

The burger doesn't look appealing right? It tastes quite good though.

Roadside Fried Chicken Wing @ Leboh Wayang, Kuching

Location: Leboh Wayang, opposite Medan Pelitan / Star Cineplex, Kuching

I can't never resist to have chicken wings, especially fried chicken wings. But I don't fancy KFC. In Kuching, I found two places for nice fried chicken wings. One at Jalan Song's Peach Garden and one is pretty well-known among Kuchingnites at Leboh Wayang. The roadside chicken wings is available everyday, business starting at 1 something in the noon. Chicken wings normally sold out around 3pm. The stall used to carry out business at the roadside, under the hot sun. Now they are operating under the shaded place, in front of the vacant shop.

They have chicken wings, chicken drumsticks, chicken tails (bishop's nose), chicken gizzards and fish balls.

Very crispy and the size of chicken wing is big. How you can resist this golden brown chicken wings?

Authentic Foochow Cuisine @ Rock City Cafe 东阁

Location: 2½ Rock Road, Eastmoore Centre, Jalan Rock, Kuching

These years you can easily find Foochow cuisine at almost every coffee shop in Kuching. I am a Foochow myself but I could rarely find any Foochow cuisine here that suits my taste. Even the one I ever introduced before in my blog, New Happy Cafe. I like the taste but not up to 100% yet. I thought this is the best I could find in Kuching. Sometime ago I went to Rock City Cafe which mentioned by my friend before. This is the authentic taste of Foochow cuisine which I have been long searching for.

Aside Foochow style fried noodles, you can find nice kampua and mee sua here too.

This is the stall which I have been patronized frequently. I was addicted to its fried noodles and egg soup for months.

This is fried noodle soup. It is my favourite too. The soup is darker and thick.

My regular order, Foochow fried noodles. The gravy is awesomely tasty. I always finished it till the last spoon. If you want to order this, make sure you tell them "炒面湿的". If you didn't specifically tell them so, they might give you the dry fried noodles.

I can't remember this is fried mee sua or beehoon. Compared to fried noodles, taste rather plain without gravy.

This is my favourite egg soup. I order this every time to go with my fried noodles. Hundred percent highly recommended. I brought my bro and mum there one time, and now my bro also became their loyal customer.

This is from another stall which selling mee sua mainly. It is not difficult to find chicken tonic soup with mee sua in Kuching, but not Ba Zhen mee sua 八珍面线. I like this Ba Zhen soup too but it is only available on Saturday (if not mistaken).

Note:  Rock City Cafe closes around 1 - 1:30pm, operates everyday.

MAIU @ Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Selangor

Address: No. 41, Jln Temenggong 21/9, Bdr Mahkota Cheras, 43200 Cheras, Selangor
Tel: +6o3-90100777

Last year October, I googled Cheras Japanese food. MAIU was on top of the result list. After reading some reviews from their Facebook page, some bad and good. We decided to give it a try. Walked in and found out they serve buffet, of course they do have ala carte too but as compared to the price, my friend decided to go for buffet as the value is more worthy. I doubted our stomach capacity.

2014 pricing: Adult RM48.80+, Children RM25.80+ (subject to Tax and Service Charges).

Looking at the menu, so many choices.. we were so tempted to choose every dish. I don't think it is achievable. Choose wisely! The most expensive ones! Yay, right... But still we were so full (nearly puke) after second round.

Itako Kyuli (Octopus)

Kani Salad. I quite like this salad. The vege is fresh and the sauce is sour, good for those who are on diet.

Salmon Skin Salad. I love its crispy salmon skin.

Salmon & Shiro Maguro. Initially I was quite skeptical about the quality of food a buffet will serve. Surprisingly, they serve fresh sashimi with thick slice.

Inari Sushi. Never my favourite but friend wanted. Taste nothing special. If go for buffet, better don't choose this rather ordinary dish.

I doubt why we ordered Onion Rings? The boss (who pays the bill) made the decision.

I am a mushroom lover. So I asked for it.

Maguro Tempura. I guess he picked this because of the "thumb up" next to the tick box.

Salmon. Taste ordinary.

Soft Shell Crab Hand Rolls

Salmon Skin Maki, Crunchy Salmon Skin Maki and Meteor Maki. 6 pieces each. We were struggling to finish them. Overeating.

My favourite, Chawanmushi. Taste not so ordinary. Yummy.

Repeat ordered Salmon and Shiro Maguro.

Prawn and vege tempura.

I vividly remember when this Salmon Shioyaki was served,  I was like "Geez! What?! So big!".  I nearly wanted to cry. We were literally "torturing" ourselves to finish it. After this meal, I told my friend, never go for buffet again. We were just too ambitious and overestimate ourselves. Felt so guilty after a heavy meal.

Overall we are satisfied with food quality. The service was good too, they refilled our green tea from time to time. They have two branches. Check out their Facebook page here.

Nyan Shin Cafe 源成茶室, Kuching

Location: Carpenter Street, Kuching

Most Kuchingnites should be familiar with this cafe as it is quite "historical". The business has been handed down from generations. Years ago, my friend brought me to Nyan Shin Cafe for her favourite beef noodles. I never had the Hakka handmade noodles before this. Sometime ago, we went back there again (I don't usually go to Carpenter Street for breakfast as the area is notoriously hard to find parking lot).

I ever had their kolo mee. Indescribably delicious. If you got chance to visit Carpenter Street, don't miss Nyan Shin. There are a number of good shops you can visit along Carpenter Street. There is another shop selling nice kolo mee too, I will introduce it next time.

Mutton noodles. I like the meat a lot, you can chew it effortless.

My friend's Taiwan beef noodles. Spot the pork lard on top? My friend made a special request for it.

Other than Ta Wan Kung, Nyan Shin is another place for nice handmade noodles. Note: Axian.my has introduced them before, click here.
