SideWalk @Green Height, Kuching

Address: Lot 8729, No. 127, Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Green Height, 93250 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Monday - Sunday 4:00pm - 12:00am

I had not dine out for quite sometime until last week I had the crave of Alio Olio. Whenever I think of the best pasta in town, SideWalk came to my mind. Their pricing is considered high as compared to other restaurants without air-conditioning. But the last time I visited here, the taste of their pasta was good.

SideWalk's menu. Carbonara or bolognese, noodles choice of fettuccine or spaghetti, you can always get your favourite pasta here. Though my favourite is carbonara fettuccine, I have to avoid it because of my diet plan. Sorry for the poor lighting, this restaurant is really dimmed. A romantic dining place for couples. This place also provides red and white wine. They do have beers and cocktails too.

Their open kitchen.

My friend's Cajun Chicken, RM27.80 not inclusive of 6% GST.

My Seafood Alio-Olio, RM28.80 not inclusive of 6% GST.

Not sure they have unnoticeably cut down the portion or I got it wrong. Rather disappointed with its portion. I was not even 80% full after the meal. Well, with the price we paid.. I don't find it worth to visit again.  Oh yeah, we also ordered a pot of tea RM7.80. Please be informed, they don't provide free hot water refill ok. They charge RM2 for each refill. I forgot to let my friend know before she reached out the waitress for refill request.

Total billed RM70.40 for above all including a pot of tea and 6% GST.

Pure Fish Ball Cafe 纯正鱼丸美食 @Jalan Padungan, Kuching

Address: No. 214, Jalan Padungan, 93200 Kuching, Sarawak
Business hours: 10:00am - 9:30pm (Monday - Wednesday & Friday); 11:00am - 9:30pm (Saturday & Sunday); Off every Thursday

I have not been to Pure Fish Ball Cafe for many years until recently I dropped by for late lunch. Surprisingly there were many Malay patrons than Chinese. This place served no pork. So it's a good choice to bring your Malay friends here for lunch or dinner. Tonight I brought my friend here for dinner. I wanted to have butter cuttlefish rice. Too bad, we were informed no more rice available.

The menu. Variety of dishes for you to choose from. Since they ran out of rice, I chose Tom Yam style Tong Hoon and my friend had the Cantonese style Kuay Tiaw.

My friend's Cantonese style Kuay Tiaw, RM6. The portion was really generous, should be sufficient for two pax. The taste was great too, next time I want to order this.

My order, Tom Yam style Tong Hoon. Also RM6, the portion was huge. It was quite spicy but I liked it.

The total bill, RM15 including our drinks. So cheap as compared to the portion they served. Definitely worth to come back again and again.

Kimchi Korea @One Jaya Lifestyle Mall, Kuching

Address: No. G1, Lot 11430 Block 11, One Jaya The Lifestyle Mall, Jalan Song, Muara Tebas Land District, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Tuesday - Saturday (11:30am - 2:30pm; 6:00pm - 9:30pm), Sunday (2:30pm - 9:30pm), Monday off

I ever blogged this place before in 2014. As the owner has changed, so here I am to blog this small Korean restaurant again. From time to time, I would have sudden crave of Korean food. Generally the Korean food here is not cheap, especially those manned by Korean owners. Of course they are authentic, but if you are on shoe-string budget, the last resort is this place. Though I don't think the current owner is a Korean.

Different owner, different menu. But they do serve the most popular dishes, like Kimchi stew, BBQ pork belly, Budae stew, spicy rice cake and fried chicken. Plus point, their pricing is reasonable and affordable too.

The only drawback I can pick on is their side dishes. They provide one bowl of kimchi and that's it. Whereas the previous owner provided two types of side dishes. Anyway, no complaint. For the price you pay, this is what you get.

We waited quite long for our food to be served. Starved.. and finally our fried chicken is here. First bite, wow.. it tastes great but subsequent bites my tongue started to get numb. It was too salty. I doubt I would want to order this again on my next visit as I have phobia of its saltiness.

The kimchi stew. We ordered the large size (RM25), sufficient for two. The ingredients are really sumptuous. It has kimchi, beancurd, luncheon, pork and chicken. Generous portion and totally worth the price. I hope their standard will remain the same as this.

The last visit we had budae stew. It was not bad too. Next time I'll still order this kimchi stew. Look at the picture, making me mouth watering again.

Verinice 口福 @Taman Supreme, Kuching

Address: Sublot 1, Lorong Wan Alwi 5, Taman Supreme, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Wednesday - Monday 10:30am - 3pm, 5:30pm - 10pm (Tuesday off)

Verinice firstly established at Ang Cheng Ho, the business was really good. Few years later, they moved to the existing location. The menu has changed too. I used to like some of their claypot dishes, unfortunately it is no longer available in the menu.

The menu.

Hong Kong Kailan RM9.

Sea cucumber soup RM13.

Sesame pork chop RM14. We did not expect the pork chop is coated with sesame all over. It is crispy and full of sesame aroma. We couldn't finish all, I had a piece retained for lunch the next day. It was still taste good after overnight.

The total bill is reasonable, about RM40++ including rice and drinks for 3 pax.
