Many years ago my first visit to Chinatown, this durian pancake was very popular back then. The durian puree was thick in taste and the pancake itself was crispy. I was impressed with the good taste of it. Many years later my friend brought me here for foot massage so we also got ourselves durian pancake each.
Regular size of pancake costs $2.50, jumbo size $3.80.
The durian pancake is made fresh per order.
The durian puree was still cold when served, the texture was slightly grainy when chewing. But this time the durian aroma was not as great, the puree was not soft and less sweet.

Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle 大華猪肉粿條面, Singapore
Address: 466 Crawford Lane, #01-12, Singapore 190465
Business hours: Monday - Sunday 9:30am - 9:00pm (Rest on first and third Monday)
Last month I made a prompt decision to visit my friend in Singapore. My friend asked me to list down the food I want to try out. So this Bak Chor Mee (BCM) is one of the food in my list. After landed and dropped my luggage at home, we came to Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle for the famous BCM. They gained a Michelin Star prestige in 2016, that accolade made them so popular internationally. We reached there and lined up at 10:53am, the queue was still considered short. When it was our turn to order, the time hit 12:05pm. Quite a number of the customers are tourists, and there were customers ordered takeaways too. An hour wait was quite unpleasant because it was quite hot and stuffy.
Finally our turn to order. They have 3 sizes of portion, $5, $8 and $10. Since we have waited an hour for this, I want to have the bigger portion so that I don't feel regret later. I went for $8 and my friend's $5.
This bowl of BCM is plentiful. The ingredients include dumplings, meatballs, pork slices, pork liver, minced meat, and fried fish slices. The BCM accompanied with a bowl of soup too. The alkaline taste of the soup was quite overwhelming. The noodle was cooked to perfection, neither too hard nor too soft, springy, mild spicy and tangy in taste. But the alkaline aroma was rather strong. The pork liver was soft and still red in colour, I was quite hesitated to eat it at first because it's not fully cooked. I like the dumplings, and the minced meat tastes great with the sauce.
Overall this bowl of BCM is indeed worth the one hour wait but I don't think I want to queue again since I have tried it.

Mummy's & Mama's Homecooking @Ah Liong Cafe, BDC, Kuching
Address: Lot 942, Jalan Stampin, Taman BDC, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Sunday - Monday 6:30am - 11:30pm (Wednesday off)
Ah Liong Cafe is unlike other kopitiams, it's hygienic and organized. I used to come here for dinner but weeks ago I started to come here for lunch. To my surprise, there are variety of food to choose from. And, I got so indecisive which to have because every stall's menus look so attractive. I can name a few "the best to have", Teochew porridge, one plate rice with one dish (碟仔飯), and the most popular stall is this Mummy's & Mama's Homecooking's fast food.
Mummy's & Mama's Homecooking, the Bario Specialties. The red rice they used is from Bario.
Every dish is unique and you should try their tempoyak, the fermented durian paste. It's seasonal though. I like every of their homecook dishes, the flavour is impeccable.
I really like petai and tempoyak. A plate of this, two veges and one meat costs RM6. Very reasonable.
This plate costs slightly higher, RM6.50. I don't know what's the dishes called. The yellow cubes are not potatoes, it should be banana stem.

Which kolo mee in Kuching is your favourite? Would like to recommend you one of the famous kolo mee in Kuching now. I hadn't visited Hon Hin Cafe for century until recently. As I needed new materials to write my blog so I made the visit solely on this purpose. Hon Hin Cafe is just adjacent to the Chong Choon Cafe, I had laksa more frequent.
The kolo mee here is very popular, if not mistaken the lady vendor is relative to the owner of Sin Lian Shin 新联成. Her kolo mee noodles usually sold out around 10:30am. So if you want to have kolo mee here, you have to come early before 10am. I made two visits because the first visit I didn't manage to try out the noodles. So I had kueh tiaw instead. The second visit, I came slightly earlier, around 10:50am. The noodles sold out but I got it by luck because a lady cancelled her order right on the spot when I was about to leave.
The kolo kueh tiaw I had on my first visit. I was informed the noodles sold out after I'd waited for a while. Despite I placed my order first with the staff, I noticed the vendor reserved the noodles for her frequent customers who ordered after me. And yet, their food was served before me. Oh well.. anyway, it's better you order with the vendor direct.
On my second visit, finally managed to have this set of noodle with a bowl of pig's organ soup.
The pork liver wasn't fully cooked, so it remained soft and smooth. The broth was really rich in flavour, best match with the noodle. You have to stir the noodle evenly when it's served, otherwise it can be quite dry. If not mistaken, a set of this is RM7.
