Fatty Cheong's 肥仔祥 Char Siew & Tong Fong Fatt's 東風發 Chicken Rice @ABC Brickworks, Singapore

Address: 6, Jalan Bukit Merah, 150006 Singapore

Last day in Singapore, my friend brought me to ABC Brickworks Food Centre for brunch. Without knowing what's good here, I made a few rounds browsing what I want to have. And my friend's husband queued at Fatty Cheong for its char siew and roast pork. I made 2 - 3 rounds, couldn't decide. Thought of ordering the prawn noodles but front store seemed like closing. My friend recommended the Hainanese boneless chicken rice at the corner stall. There was a queue too. I decided to give it a try.

Fatty Cheong's charcoal-grilled char siew, it has the perfect proportion of fat and lean meat. Drenched in the black gravy that tastes slightly sweet. The meat was juicy and not hard to chew. It goes well with rice.

One of my favourites, roast pork. The skin was crackling crispy. Slightly dry but soft, the taste was good.

Hainanese boneless chicken rice from Tong Fong Fatt. I just found out it has branches islandwide. I have not had chicken rice for sometime. I try not to have chicken rice when there's other option. In Singapore, you won't go wrong with chicken rice. As expected, this chicken rice from Tong Fong Fatt was also a great choice. I was impressed with its quality of rice.  The rice was fragrant, every rice grain filled with chicken essence evenly. A good plate of Hainanese chicken rice, should examine the rice first. I detest to see the lumpy rice.

I asked for drumstick part. The meat was flavourful and tender. Most importantly, it was boneless.

Next week I'll be travelling to Taiwan with my mum. Guess I might not able to update my blog until mid April. But I shall be able to post in my IG. If you are interested to found out what I have been up to in Taiwan, just follow my IG account @igomakan.

Tai Cheong Bakery 泰昌饼家 @Holland Village, Singapore

Address: 31, Lorong Liput, Singapore 277742
Business hours: Monday - Friday 10am - 10pm, Saturday - Sunday 9am - 11pm

After dinner at Sushi Tei, my friend brought me here to get the egg tart from Tai Cheong Bakery at Holland Village. Tai Cheong Bakery from Hong Kong is famous for its egg tart. As we just had our dinner, we didn't plan to dine in. There was a short queue when we arrived.

Their egg tarts are selling fast. The quantity is limited, so have to grab fast while stock lasts.

The menu for dine-in. Their signatures are Egg Tart, Durian & Cheese Tart, Coconut Tart and Chicken Pie. One piece of egg tart, priced at S$1.90.

The interior design is typical cha chaan teng setting like those in Hong Kong.

Egg tart (S$1.90) and coconut tart (S$2.50).  This silky egg custard texture was indeed very soft and rich. Not overly sweet. The crust was solid and buttered fragrant. Whereas the fillings of coconut tart was moist and loose when you bite.

On my next visit, I would want to try out their macaroni soup with luncheon meat and polo bun.

By invitation: Nando's New Menu, Coco-Cataplana

This year 2018 Nando's has new dish again! The new combination is so "coconut" this time, let's introduce Coco-Cataplana! It's the Coco-Cataplana marries Nando's fiery PERi-PERi with coconut flavours. The price is reasonable, RM29.90. You can have it on your own or shared with 2 person.

It's served in an authentic Portuguese cookware, called Cataplana, contained 1/4 flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken with your flavour of choice (Lemon & Herb, Mango & Lime, Mild, Hot, Extra Hot), unique coconut and PERi-PERi mix, Mediterranean rice with special Cataplana sauce, mixed vegetables, and garnished with lime. I personally like its rice, moist and full of coconut milk aroma.

I ordered Citrus Iced Tea to match with Coco-Cataplana. My friend had Peach Perfect. Oh Citrus Iced Tea is so really citrus, not over sour, very refreshing. Highly recommended.

Every time I visit Nando's, I can't resist not to order their sweet potato chips. Crunchy bite, it's baked so you don't have to concern it's oily or what. Dip with the tartar sauce, heavenly delicious.

Yon Yan Fried Chicken Wings 永炎炸鸡翼 @West Coast Market Square, Singapore

Address: 726 Clementi West Street 2, Singapore 120726
Business hours: Tuesday - Saturday 11:00am - 2:00pm; 5:00pm - 8:30pm (Sunday & Monday off)

Visit Singapore, there's one thing I do not want to miss, the fried chicken wings. I tried the fried chicken wings at Eng Kee in 2015, this time my friend brought me to try out Yon Yan's fried chicken wings. Their fried chicken wings became even more famous after Singapore PM Lee had queued to buy. It was previously operating at Redhill Food Centre, moved to West Coast Market Square after sometime.

Fried chicken wing, luncheon meat, sausage, fish cake, ngoh hiang (spiced meat roll), and fried bee hoon. Which one you can resist not to have?

While my friend's husband was queueing to get the chicken wings, we made a round to hunt for other popular food.

There have halal food stalls as well. This particular stall front had long line with all races, should be exceptionally nice?

This stall also had long queue.

My friend queued at 合記 He Ji Braised Duck Rice Porridge Noodle.

My friend ordered their signature kueh chap and braised duck kueh tiaw. This usually not my favourite but the tastes were great. The kueh chap is different from our version in Kuching. The broth was thicker but quite a let down as it was not really hot when served. Overall the broth was flavourful, slightly sweet. The duck meat was tender and well-braised.

Dang dang! The vendor always presented the chicken wings so neatly, making it even more appealing. We ordered half dozen of chicken wings. The size was equally large, and cost only $1.40. The chicken wings were fried evenly, you can't find the chicken wings with darker nor lighter colour tone. The batter was thin on the skin, it had mild flavour but utterly crispy and crunchy. Even though the meat inside was slightly bland but it was guaranteed juicy. Totally satisfied with this plate of chicken wings.

What's the best match with the fried chicken wings? Needless to mention, it's the fried bee hoon. It might looks simple, the flavour was mild in taste. Therefore you need the spicy sambal belacan to go with it.
